this innovative work utilizes a new approach to looping, and represented a musical step forward for stafford. instead of recording many pieces and then simply selecting the "best" for inclusion, these works are presented in the order in which they occurred. there are no alternate versions or outtakes, and each was conceived, executed and recorded in one session. in addition, the songs on the "first side" were recorded on various dates over a period of two months, with time for reflection and consideration between times. "side two" was recorded over a period of two days, to provide a contrast in immediacy and presentation. the overall effect is exceedingly calm and relaxing, tempered with moments of questing and challenge, but in the end...peaceful, transitory sounds.
