Dave Stafford, September 2010: And now comes and then ends, the “long silence”. 2004 had been a very bad year for me, spending a fair amount of the first few months of the year in hospital, and the second half in physiotherapy, and that had seriously delayed the actual release of “all things being equal” which was really mostly “done” in 2003. After that, I had to stop and learn to cope with my changed situation.

In the end, it wasn’t until late 2004/early 2005 that I really began playing music again, tentatively, just a few loops here and there (although I do need to go back and listen to see if any release-worthy pieces escaped my notice while I was ill) and then, in early 2005, I moved to Scotland permanently, because, for a number of reasons, I really felt that I could not live in California any more.

Once settled in Scotland, I immediately looked back to the “Puddles” sessions, and “Puddles” became a pre-release CD single for “The Machinations Of Heaven” EP.
